2021 Reagan Run 5k Race information

In addition to the “real” Reagan Run 5K race, we’ll also have a Virtual Run!

Listen to Nancy Varga discuss the 2021 Reagan Run 5K Race on Talk Line with Steve Marco, NRG Media, on 4/29/21

The 2021 Reagan Run 5K Scholarships have been awarded!

Here are some details for the 2021 Reagan Run 5K Race.

We have made changes in order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions as well as allowing the team to continue to give to our not for profit benefactors who have been hit hard by this pandemic as well as continuing our gifting of 6 scholarships at $500 each to graduating Seniors in the area.

We have looked at the importance of cutting expenses and keeping income steady in order to allow for these donations. Thus the reason for the biggest change – the route.

It will be unique – but it always has been!  We know we need to keep ourselves in front of the community as we don’t want this event to go by the wayside.  It has always been a 5K that has brought family and friends together and we have kept the pricing reasonable because of this.  It is also an event that goes to the heart of wellness and good health – one of the reasons KSB has remained one of the major sponsors.

Of course, the Telegraph has been our MAIN sponsor from the inception of the event and has supported us in huge ways.  Stories, entry form in the paper, printing of paper registration forms for free when they were still allowed, coverage race day and the list goes on.  Your backing is appreciated more than you know.

So here we go:

This year we will have online registration only at getmeregistered.com

Here’s specifics on the course.  Questions on course and more details can come from James Lillyman – hellojkl@msn.com.

From James:
The map of Lowell is attached. You’ll see 3 marks I added to the Pinetum area in the top left quarter of the map, note the 5k mark as the start line. In the left hand margin there is a sample paddock with ten runners. Each paddock is 25 feet long and as wide as the road, 12’ at least. We’ve added an additional 25’ space between each paddock so there is 50’ per paddock and there are ten paddocks socially distanced. We’ll fill this setup 3 times for a total of 100 runners X’s 3. Each 10 person pod will start 1:00 minute apart which should give everyone a safe social distance throughout the event.

2021 RR5k starting at Lowell Park – Lowell Park to Dixon via Lowell Parkway Trail ending at Washington Ave & Trail.

Start:
• In the Pinetum area of Lowell Park –
o             5k course starts in Pinetum (see map) with set up as described above. Start 10 runners every 1 minute, each paddock moves up. (100 runners). Refill the paddocks two more times; Red group, Blue group, White group.
o             The starting mat would be at the designated 5k mile mark on the map in the Pinetum so it picks up the runner as they cross that point.
o             We’ll stage walkers in the final group, last 5 or 6 paddocks, runners will be asked for a honest 5k time on entry forms and since you are running only against the clock it shouldn’t matter.
o             Staging strategy complies with all current COVID-19 restrictions and should allow a good flow of socially distanced participants. If these restrictions lessen we may review our real racer numbers.
o             Tee shirts will be offered
o             Our benefiting agencies will again be our target of our proceeds.
